This year has so far seen me photographing inside a Kentish ragstone quarry,  the Indian Gurdwara in Gravesend and the launch of the new glossy Savoy Hotel magazine. Its been a busy one already!

I have to admit, I have never wandered into the imposing entrance of the Savoy in all the times I have been past it. This time however, I was there to photograph the launch of their new magazine called The Savoy and boldly strolled in, dressed smartly with camera bag on my back.

Savoy-Magazine-01After being directed to the River Room I headed off along various corridors and floors to find it. This hotel is large and beautifully presented. Upon my arrival I met up with the team from One Media in Tunbridge Wells who had published the magazine, where we chatted and enjoyed a celebratory glass of champagne.

Savoy-Magazine-08My brief was to cover the evening getting a good selection of photos which would be used by One Media and The Savoy Hotel for PR and marketing purposes. Events are one my favourite types of photography. There can be no planning for the shots I get, I wander around the edge of whats going on looking for opportunities, people chatting, laughing, reading presenting their products. Every shoot is different.

Savoy-Magazine-87This shoot was great, not just for location and name, but there was a good selection of people, from the Managing Director of the Hotel to the guests and the staff of both the Hotel and One Media.

Savoy-Magazine-64Everyone enjoyed the evening which made my life a lot easier in getting the atmosphere over! My aim for any event shoot is to produce a set of images that tell the story of the evening, from how it unfolds, the theme, the food and the people, my client was happy that they had a set of images that portrayed just that.
